Shinnston, West Virginia (WV), a community in Harrison County, was settled by Levi Shinn in 1773, was chartered in 1852 as Shinn's Town, and was incorporated in 1877. Shinnston is situated on the West Fork River downstream of the mouth of Tenmile Creek. The log home of Levi Shinn still stands and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
