Slide Show: 11 must-see waterfalls in West Virginia

The North Fork of the Blackwater River plunges into a boulder-strewn bed near Thomas, West Virginia. Rocks along the fork have been stained orange by sulfides following years of coal mining in the mountains upstream, though the fork is being restored. Douglas Falls is a drive of only about seven miles from Blackwater Falls and Elekala Falls, and waterfall hunters often visit the three in the same outing.
