The 3,030-acre Pleasant Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) ranges over wetlands and mixed hardwood forest south and west of Tygart Lake State Park and the Tygart Valley River. Game traditionally hunted in the management area includes deer, grouse, squirrel, rabbit, turkey, and waterfowl. The area adjoins 1,750-acre Tygart Lake, a warmwater fishery stocked with trout from February until May. More than 40 tent and trailer campsites with pit toilets and well water have been established in the management area as well as a 200-yard shooting range.
Directions: The Pleasant Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in northern Barbour County and southern Taylor County, six miles north of Philippi, WV, and four miles south of Grafton, WV. To reach the area from Philippi or Grafton, follow US-119 north or south, respectively, to Clemtown Road (CR-10), and follow the latter two miles to Pleasant Creek Road.
The Pleasant Creek WMA is managed by the W.Va. Division of Natural Resources. It was formerly known as the Pleasant Creek Public Hunting & Fishing Area.
