Winterplace Ski Resort

Approaching the summit of Flat Top Mountain, the slopes at Winterplace Ski Resort takes advantage of one of the snowiest summits in the southern U.S. Just off Interstate 77 and highway US-19, the ski area is among the most accessible in the eastern U.S. Even during severe winter snowstorms, the expressway adjacent to the resort is kept clear by a dedicated fleet.

Winterplace Ski Resort features 27 downhill ski trails, a 10-lane snow tubing park, a snowboarding park, immediate access to I-77, and restaurants, clubs, and conference facilities, and slope-side condominiums.

Location

Winterplace is located on highway US-19 one mile from the Interstate 77 expressway exit 28 at Ghent, WV. The ski area is approximately 20 miles south of Beckley, WV, a drive of 25 minutes by interstate (turnpike) or paralleling highway. A $2 charge per automobile is in place on the turnpike between Beckley and Winterplace. The ski area is located approximately 25 miles north of Princeton, WV,  a toll-free drive of 30 minutes by interstate.

Visiting the Winterplace region

Winterplace is located on the southern border of the New River Gorge Region and the northern border of the Bluestone Region. Additional lodging, dining, and attractions will be found in either region.
