W.Va. resort ranked among top five Mother's Day destinations

Adventures on the Gorge has been named one of the top five Mother’s Day destinations in the U.S. by national travel and realty magazine World Property Journal.

Noting the resort's recent ranking by U.S. News & World Report as one of the top adventure resorts in the country, author Steve Winston suggests active moms “might enjoy staying in one of the deluxe, multi-bedroom cabins with hot tubs and fully-equipped kitchens located in an ancient hemlock forest.”

The resort overlooking the rim of the New River Gorge near Fayetteville, West Virginia, is offering a special Mother’s Day Brunch at Smokey’s Steakhouse from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 14. Brunch reservations arranged by 2 p.m. Thursday will be discounted $10, according to a release issued by the resort.

The brunch will include freshly prepared traditional and distinctive offerings such as mango and peach yogurt smoothies, lemon and pink peppercorn-infused rainbow trout with spring onions, asparagus, and fava beans, an omelet station with fresh accompaniments, burrata cheese and peaches with fresh basil, coriander, and black pepper, and cauliflower and cabbage au gratin.

Adventures on the Gorge provides guests an array of outdoor experiences among the region's national parks including whitewater rafting on the New and Gauley rivers as well as aerial adventures, rock climbing and rappelling, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, fishing, mountain biking and hiking. The resort also boasts bars, shops, restaurants, and cabin, luxury home, and campsite accommodations.
