"West Virginia continues to receive national attention as a can’t-miss travel destination, and as a result, increased visitation, leaving a lasting economic impact. I’m so proud of all we have accomplished, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

    Condé Nast Traveler recognitions

Condé Nast Traveler has recognized West Virginia several times in recent years for its natural beauty, hospitality, and growing appeal as a travel destination.

In 2021, the publication named West Virginia one of the "Best Places to Go" in 2022, highlighting the state’s outdoor recreation opportunities, scenic landscapes, and newly designated New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.

That same year, West Virginia—and The Schoolhouse Hotel—were featured in the magazine's list of the Top 22 Places to Visit in 2022, which praised the state’s expanding tourism infrastructure and unique lodging experiences.
