    New feud performance attracts national TV attention

    A new outdoor-drama performance of the Hatfield and McCoy feud is packing the amphitheater at Chief Logan State Park and will host a national TV crew tonight during "Descendant's Night," during which members of the two famous families will be admitted at a discount rate.

    Director Bill France said the true-to-history drama that concerns the world-famous feud between the Hatfields of West Virginia and McCoys of Kentucky is attracting full-houses from near and far, but organizers want to be sure family members see the performances in particular.

    “Audiences are loving the show, and we are anxious to share it with their families," France said.

    The performance of "Deadly Divide: The Hatfield & McCoy Story" and its audience will be taped by a national TV crew that films for both NBC and the History Channel, he said.

    Amphitheatre officials plan to rope off the audience in Hatfield and McCoy sections, and the Hatfields are encouraged to wear orange, while the McCoys are encouraged to wear blue.

    Family members are welcome to attend for $10, while regular patrons will be charged at regular rates.

    The drama will be presented July 18, 19, 20, and 21 and July 25, 26, 27, 28.

    All shows start at 8:30 p.m.
