A public comment meeting that concerns a proposed 75-room lodge and conference center to be developed near the Beech Fork Dam and Recreation Area near Huntington, West Virginia, has been scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019.
The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Lavalette Elementary School cafeteria from 6 to 7 p.m., according to Brad Reed, deputy chief of West Virginia State Parks.
The national hospitality and recreational consulting firm CHM Government Services has been contracted to assist West Virginia State Parks with the assessment, which includes an evaluation of the market and a financial and feasibility investment analysis.
“Public participation is a key requirement of the analysis," Reed said.
"CHM Government Services and West Virginia State Parks are interested in hearing from citizens, civic and social groups, businesses, local government officials and volunteers to learn their interests and ideas.
“The team particularly wants to learn what programs and activities could occur and how groups or businesses would support the proposed facilities.”
The meeting agenda includes an overview of the project and an opportunity for public comment and feedback. An online survey is also available here.
Lavalette Elementary School Cafeteria is located at 1150 Beech Fork Road, Lavalette, WV 25535.
