Acting Chief of Parks Dillard Price said the agreement will provide visiting youth discounts, and rounds can be booked by walk-in or by calling the courses.

“The partnership provides young adults with an affordable opportunity to play our courses at a discounted rate,” Price said. "It’s about accessibility, affordability, and creating lifelong players."

"Youth on Course" is a California-based nonprofit established in 2006 to provide youth 18 and younger access to opportunities through golf.

Participants have played more than four million subsidized rounds of golf for $5 or less at thousands of partner courses throughout the U.S., Canada, and Australia.

Its members include the top juniors in the sport, competing on the American Junior Golf Association and the inaugural U.S. Golf Association Team.

Michael Lowe, head of impact at Youth on Course, said the organization was pleased to be working with young West Virginians.

“The addition of these courses to our membership network removes the barrier of cost, empowering young athletes to enjoy the sport, develop their skills, and create life-changing opportunities," Lowe said.
