Alderson Broaddus University is celebrating a 10-percent increase in enrollment as the academic year launches, welcoming students from nearly 20 countries and 35 states, according to school officials.
The increase brings a more diverse and vibrant culture to Alderson Broaddus and the community, according to Dr. Eric Shor, executive vice president for administration and vice president for enrollment management
“We are excited to welcome the Class of 2023 to Alderson Broaddus University,” Shor said if the student-body growth.
“Our innovative and adaptive programming offers students a distinctive experience. I look forward to what this group will accomplish at Alderson Broaddus."
Shor said more than 910 students are making the university their home-away-from-home and trusting in the university’s rich tradition of providing the highest quality education
Alderson Broaddus is an independent institution of higher learning, committed to serving the region as an academic, cultural, and religious resource, with programs based on a liberal arts foundation.
Since its founding in 1871, the university has been a leader and innovator in higher education, specialized in health and natural sciences and is recognized as one of the most innovative health-education providers in Appalachia
It pioneered the nation’s first baccalaureate physician-assistant program of its kind in 1968, the first post-baccalaureate Physician Assistant Master’s degree program in 1990, and West Virginia’s first four-year Nursing program in 1945.
The university is located on a hilltop in Barbour County in Philippi, West Virginia.
Alderson Broaddus is rooted in historic and continuing relationships with the American Baptist Churches in the U.S.A. and the West Virginia Baptist Convention.
