Walter Nature Park is a nature preserve of approximately 25 acres in Putnam County near Winfield, West Virginia. The preserve was established by Norman and Esther Walter and was deeded to Putnam County and includes a grove of Norway Spruce planted by the Walters in the 1950s.
A one-mile loop trail, completed in 2011, wanders through woodlands on the upper basin of Guano Creek in the hills northeast of the Kanawha River. Many trees along the trail are marked for botanical study.
Norman Walter, who bought the property in 1951 for a cattle farm, bequeathed the parcel to the county's parks commission following his death in 2008. Timber harvesting is prohibited in the park.
