DuPont’s Belle Works along the Kanawha
Belle, WV (West Virginia), in Kanawha County, is located in a broad flats along the Kanawha River. E.I. duPont de Nemours & Co. Inc. opened a specialty and agricultural chemicals manufacturing plant at Belle in 1926. The community was so-named for its beautiful locale. The town today is principally a residential community prized for its riverfront homes. The Cecil I. Walker Machine Company operates a plant in southeast Belle.
