WVExplorer celebrates 100K pageviews over four days

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- I and other developers at West Virginia Explorer would like to thank the sponsors, advertisers, visitors, and everyone else who helped us break a 14-year record this week, accruing more than 100,000 pageviews in a four-day period. Visitors who shared and reposted stories we've published through Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn have pushed us beyond records we never expected to break so soon.

The online guide to West Virginia at WVExplorer.com was recast over the winter to incorporate mobile technology and social media compatibility. More than 80 percent of our traffic is now mobile, and more than 90 percent is being driven through social media.

We'd especially like to thank visitors and others who shared our reports on the five most haunted places in West Virginia and the hanging of the Bluebeard of Quiet Dell. They pushed us far beyond any prior record of which I'm aware in fourteen years of publishing.
