Mountain streams descend through Camp Creek State Park and two of the most photographed waterfalls in West Virginia as they fall toward the Bluestone River. Surrounded by Camp Creek State Forest, this park-within-a-park has long been a favorite destination of campers and anglers. Fishing in trout-stocked Camp Creek is renowned, and hunting is permitted beyond the park boundary in the 5,300-acre forest. Two campgrounds, one of which accommodates horses in two-, four-, and six-horse stalls, welcome overnight guests year-round. More than 35 miles of trail are available for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing.
Directions: Camp Creek State Park is located north of Princeton, in Mercer County, in the Bluestone Region of southern West Virginia. Winterplace ski area, at Ghent, is located north of the state park in southern Raleigh County in the New River Gorge Region.
