David Sibray founded West Virginia Explorer in 1999 after developing the concept the previous year. A lifelong West Virginian, historian, photographer, and journalist, he has spent decades documenting the state’s history, tourism, outdoor recreation, economic development, and changing communities. As editor-in-chief, he guides the publication’s editorial vision while continuing to report and write many of its feature stories, travel guides, historical articles, and statewide news coverage.
