More than a dozen commercial outfitters are licensed to guide whitewater rafting expeditions in West Virginia. Some outfitters employ more than 100 guides during peak rafting seasons, and the largest outfitters guide more than 50,000 rafters annually. Many outfitters also outfit fishing trips and guide biking, hiking, and hunting expeditions. Most operate base camps that may include restaurants and camping and lodging facilities.
