Kimball, West Virginia (WV), a community in McDowell County, was incorporated in 1911 and named for Frederick J. Kimball, president of the Norfolk & Western Railway, which built a railroad into the region in the the 1880s. The first memorial raised to black veterans of World War I, the World War Memorial building at Kimball is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
