Eight waterfalls to visit this summer in West Virginia

    No. 8: Cathedral Falls

Cathedral Falls near Gauley Bridge, W.Va.

"For sheer beauty and height, visit Cathedral Falls -- a magical locale, especially if you find the surrounding park deserted, though that's no easy feat as it is literally right off the road. Several trails lead up to the falls, and one of them climbs to the top, although I wouldn't attempt the venture without a rope. You'll be able to walk up to the falls by wading through a small pool or climbing over rocks. Half a dozen similar waterfalls are located on US-60 within a few miles of Cathedral, including river-wide Kanawha Falls."

    Location: Gauley Bridge, West Virginia
    GPS: 38.1544 N, 81.1788 W
    Height: 60 feet
    Access: Very Easy

An interactive map showing the location of each waterfall follows this article.
