The 528-acre Thorn Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) climbs the flanks of Neds Mountain through pine and hardwood forest from the east bank of Thorn Creek, a tributary of the South Branch of the Potomac River. Game traditionally hunted in the management area includes deer, squirrel, and turkey. Thorn Creek accommodates fly-fishing for trout. Camping is prohibited in the management area.
Directions: The Thorn Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in southern Pendleton County approximately seven miles south of Franklin, WV. To reach the area from Franklin, follow highway US-220 south 6.5 miles to a left turn onto Thorn Creek Road (CR-20). Follow the latter southeast four miles.
The Thorn Creek WMA is managed by the W.Va. Division of Natural Resources. It was formerly known as the Thorn Creek Public Hunting & Fishing Area.
