Whitesville, West Virginia (WV), on the Coal River in Boone County, was incorporated in 1935 and named for settler B.W. White. It was formerly known as Jarrold's Valley and Prichard City. A memorial for the 29 victims of the 2010 explosion at the Upper Big Branch Mine, near Montcoal, is located here. The community is situated near the Raleigh County line.
