Pennsboro, West Virginia

Pennsboro, West Virginia (WV),  a community in Ritchie County, was incorporated in 1885 and named for a surveyor for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad whose surname was Penn and who platted the town. Pennsboro has long been the location of “The Old Stone House,”  a stagecoach tavern built in about 1810.

The Pennsboro Race Track is located to the west of the community, and the North Bend Rail Trail courses along its southern flank. North Bend State Park is located 12 miles southwest of the town.

Pennsboro is located on highway WV-74 one mile north of the US-50 expressway and approximately 10 miles northeast of Harrisville, West Virginia, 35 miles east of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and 40 miles west of Clarksburg, West Virginia.
