Richwood, West Virginia (WV), a community on the Cherry River in eastern Nicholas County, was incorporated in 1901 and named for the abundance of timber found in the region. The community was first known as Cherry Tree Bottoms. Richwood is located in the southwestern Monongahela National Forest.

Richwood is located on highways WV-39 and WV-55 approximately 25 miles east of Summersville, West Virginia, 40 miles west of Marlinton, West Virginia, and 40 miles south of Webster Springs, West Virginia.
