West Virginia Explorer Magazine seeking new writers

Share

One of the leading guides to West Virginia travel, West Virginia Explorer Magazine is seeking new writers to report on tourism, outdoor adventure, and economic development in West Virginia, according to publisher David Sibray.

Now in its 24th year of publication, the online magazine reaches more than 10,000 daily readers, most searching for information about the Mountain State. Its largest audiences are in surrounding cities, notably New York City and Washington, D.C., representing the top 12% of its readers.

Candidates should have experience reporting for newspapers and work with AP style and be accustomed to working with evergreen stories. They should also be familiar with West Virginia, though travel will not be required.

The magazine will typically pay $50 per story. Most stories will require an interview with only one source and should be 10 to 15 standard paragraphs.
