Chattoroy, WV, in Mingo County, is an unincorporated community located on Buffalo Creek, a tributary of the Tug Fork River. The community was formerly a commercial center for coal camps located along the creek. Coal mining had long been the economic backbone of the community. The Mingo County Airport is located on a ridge above Chattaroy. Highways US-119 and US-52 skirt the town to the southwest. The name "Chattaroy" may be of native American origin.
