Lumberport, West Virginia (WV), a community in Harrison County, was chartered in 1838 and named as a result of the location of a boatyard here on the West Fork River at the mouth of Ten Mile Creek. Through the early 1800s, rafts of lumber were floated downstream from Lumberport to markets in Pittsburgh, 100 miles to the north.
