Pennsboro, West Virginia (WV), a community in Ritchie County, was incorporated in 1885 and named for a surveyor for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad whose surname was Penn and who platted the town. Pennsboro has long been the location of "The Old Stone House," a stagecoach tavern built in about 1810.

Pennsboro is located on highway WV-74 one mile north of the US-50 expressway and approximately 10 miles northeast of Harrisville, West Virginia, 35 miles east of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and 40 miles west of Clarksburg, West Virginia.
