The May Moore Mound, located two miles north of Ben Lomond, West Virginia, in Mason County, is one of the larger Native American burial mounds in West Virginia. It has never been properly excavated but was probably built by the Adena people between 500 B.C. and A.D. 1. Several smaller mounds are said to exist in this area. The mound rises in a cornfield on a low bluff above the Ohio River and is visible from WV-2. It is on private property.
