Cameron, WV (West Virginia), on Grave Creek in Marshall County, was incorporated in 1861 and named for Samuel Cameron, a right-of-way agent for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, which fueled the growth of the town. Cameron thrived until the B&O railroad line was de-commissioned and removed, and many of its commercial buildings stand empty. The area around Cameron is rural and agricultural.  The Cameron City Pool is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
