Lost Creek, West Virginia (WV), a community in Harrison County, was incorporated in 1946 and was, according to a local legend, named for an ominous message carved on a tree along the creek before the region was settled. Though relatively remote for many years, the completion of I-79 opened the town to interstate commerce.
