Cathedral Falls drops over sandstone ledges on its descent to the New River.

Another of the best-known waterfalls in West Virginia, Cathedral Falls cascades over a series of ledges in a punch-bowl geologic formation. A short walk from U.S. 60, the waterfall is a popular picnic spot, partly as a result of its accessibility but also because of the size and complexity of its fall, which includes fans, horsetails, and plunges.
