The 49-acre Slatyfork Wildlife Management Area (WMA) ranges along a narrow strip of bottom running between railroad grade and the Slaty Fork of the Elk River. Game traditionally hunted in the management area include deer, squirrel, and turkey, though hunting is limited by the relatively small size of the area. More than 4.5 miles of the Slaty Fork in the management area accommodates catch-and-release trout fishing. Only foot traffic is permitted in the catch-and-release fishing area. Camping is prohibited throughout the management area
Directions: The Slatyfork Wildlife Management Area is located in northern Pocahontas County and southern Randolph County between Marlinton, WV, and Huttonsville, WV. To reach the area from Huttonsville, follow highway US-219 south approximately 30 miles to Slatyfork, WV. Turn left onto Slatyfork Road (CR-219/12) and pass through the Beckwith Lumber Company yard to reach the access area. From Marlinton, WV, follow highway US-219 north 17 miles to Slatyfork, and turn left onto Slatyfork Road.
The Slatyfork WMA is managed by the W.Va. Division of Natural Resources and is located within the territory of the Monongahela National Forest.
