Huttonsville is the Huttonsville Wildlife Management Area and the Becky Creek Wildlife Management Area. The near reaches of Kumbrabow State Forest approach Huttonsville six miles to the southwest. The Valley Bend Wildlife Management Area is located roughly seven miles to the northeast. Huttonsville lies along the western edge of the Monongahela National Forest.

Huttonsville is located approximately 20 miles south of Elkins, West Virginia, 30 miles north of Snowshoe Mountain, West Virginia, and 25 miles northwest of Durbin, West Virginia. Highways US-250 and US-219 merge at Huttonsville.
