Death Rock is a sandstone outcrop that overlooks the valley of the Tug Fork River at Williamson, West Virginia, in Mingo County.
The rock is a popular scenic locale, and a steep trail climbs an old road more than 600 feet from town to its summit. The trail and rock are located on private land, but access is provided for recreational use.
Local legend holds that the despondent daughter of a Native American chieftain threw herself from the top of the rock after a love-affair gone wrong.
