New River Park

Some distance from the New River, New River Park is a largely wooded municipal park located in western Beckley, West Virginia, in Raleigh County. The park is located more than 10 miles from the New River and the 72.000-acre New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.

The park may be best known as the site of the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine, a historic landmarks that provides visitors a tour through mines beneath the city. The park is otherwise known for its day-use facilities, which include game courts, playgrounds, picnic shelters, and an olympic-size  swimming pool with a water slide. Several private picnic tables are located in the wooded areas of the park along its mile-long exercise trail.
