Mullens, West Virginia

Mullens, West Virginia (WV), a community in Wyoming County, was incorporated as a town in 1912, as a city in 1929, and was named for A. J. Mullins, who owned the land upon which it was built. The incorporated name was inadvertently spelled “Mullens.” Mullens developed rapidly in the early 1900s as shops and a terminal for the Virginian Railway opened. Much of the downtown is protected as part of the Mullens Commercial Historic District.

Parks & Public Recreation

The eastward extent of the Pinnacle Creek ATV Trail System approaches Mullens on the southwest. Twin Falls Resort State Park is located approximately eight miles northwest of Mullens. The upstream end of the Guyandotte River Water Trail begins at Mullens.

Mullens is located on highways WV-16 and WV-54 at the mouth of the Slab Fork of the Guyandotte River approximately 15 miles east of Pineville, West Virginia, 15 miles southwest of Sophia, West Virginia, 25 miles southwest of Beckley, West Virginia, and 35 miles northwest of Princeton, West Virginia.
