West Virginia state parks include some of the best-known state parks in the U.S. More than 30 state parks and park areas here vary in size and kind. Some protect small historical landmarks and monuments. Others, many of which were the first state forests in West Virginia, preserve large land areas for outdoor recreation. Many provide cabins and camping for overnight guests, and some include park lodges. Several include golf courses. Two parks boast aerial tramways.
