Queen Anne at Petersburg, WV

Petersburg, West Virginia (WV), the county seat of Grant County, was settled in 1745 by German colonists but was not incorporated until 1920. It was named for Jacob Peterson, who owned of the first general store in the area. Petersburg is situated on the westward bend in the South Branch of the Potomac River south of the southern extent of Patterson Creek Mountain.

Petersburg is located on highways US-250 at WV-28 and WV-55 approximately 22 miles northeast of Seneca Rocks, West Virginia, 30 miles north of Franklin, West Virginia, and 12 miles southwest of the US-48 expressway at Moorefield, West Virginia.
